Describe an Ideal Holiday

Obviously you can write about a real holiday which you have enjoyed or a perfect holiday which you have imagined.

You must write in paragraphs and use a variety of sentences.

Paragraph 1. Begin with a vivid image.
Make a key moment of your holiday come alive. There’s no need to explain yet how this fits into the story of the holiday.

2. Now go back and tell the story of the holiday from the start. “Draw the camera away.” Don’t get bogged down in detail, though. We don’t want to hear a long list of things about a taxi ride to the airport.

3-6. Pick out two or three key details from the holiday and describe them well. Try to make each point carefully and make it as lively and vivid as possible. Give your own opinions, too, but don’t do that too much.

7. The clever thing is to bring you essay round so that it ends with a repetition of the image with which you began. This time, of course, the image will be shorter and more quickly dealt with: just a reminder really.
