Compare how Doris Lessing and the writer of one other story in the selection present characters dealing with loss.

o    How the characters deal with their losses

o    How the writers show the characters' thoughts and feelings

3.  Compare how the settings contribute to the effects of the stories in The End of Something and one other story in the selection.

23        Compare how actions against other people are shown in The Laboratory by Robert Browning and three other poems: one other pre-1914 poem, one by Carol Ann Duffy and one by Simon Armitage.

24        In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning and Kid by Simon Armitage the poets create a character through the character's own words, by using the first person.

(b)                Compare these two poems with another poem from the Pre-1914 Poetry Bank and one poem by Carol Ann Duffy.
