coursework guidance
- Ensure you are familiar
with the assessment objectives and the mark scheme.
- You must meet all the
criteria in your essay but there is a specific focus on AO2ii.
- This module is worth
15% of the total A-level.
- You may submit one essay
on 2000 - 3000 words or two essays of 1000 - 15000 words each. The word limits
cannot be exceeded. Usually students submit one longer essay.
- Choose your title with
care. You will waste time if you have to change title during the preparation
period.
- Begin by constructing
a detailed plan; use topic sentences.
- Write a rough draft.
Check that your ideas link and build towards a conclusion and that your points
are relevant to the chosen question.
- Redraft and / or rewrite
your essay. You will need to check that you are meeting the assessment criteria.
- You may need to undertake
further wider reading in order to meet specific assessment criteria on context
or critical viewpoints.
- Take advantage of the
opportunities for your teacher to read and comment on your work.
- You must meet the coursework
deadline.
Presentation of
the coursework folder
You must include:
- the full title
of the essay
- an accurate word
count
- a detailed and
accurate bibliography (including radio or television programmes) and specific
website addresses
- you will sign
a top-sheet indicating that the work is your own
