MR A BARNARD |
|||||
I am Mr Barnard and I have been the head of Geography at St Peters since September 2005. Previous to that I worked at a school in Cheltenham where I was a head of year. I initially trained as a Town planner, doing a degree in urban studies at the University of Sheffield. I especially enjoyed a fieldtrip to Barcelona, looking at how it had changed especially after the 1992 Olympics. I soon decided that this was not the career for me and that I wanted to teach. I trained to be a teacher at the University of Gloucestershire. Geography was always the subject for me. It was my favourite subject at school and I have always enjoyed reading around the subject. I think I enjoyed it as I liked my teachers, and going on fantastic fieldwork around the UK. I also liked going to football grounds, and I learnt about the location of UK places through this. As my degree shows my real passion has always been for Human Geography, specifically the development of towns and cities and how they have changed over time. Living in Gloucester and the way it has changed over time has always interested me, this is still going on today and is fascinating. I am married with 2 children, who keep me busy and I enjoy my spare time
(what little there is!) playing with my family. |
