What is GCSE Leisure & Tourism?

The course is split into 3 units, each worth 33% of the marks
Assessment is by 1 exam and 2 folders of evidence
The course will involved many trips out of school to various sites of leisure and tourism
The award is worth 2 GCSE grades
The course will count towards your requirements for 6th form or other further education

Investigating Leisure & Tourism
Marketing in Leisure & Tourism
Customer Service in Leisure & Tourism

What will I get out of it?

Jobs.
The number of jobs in manufacturing has fallen rapidly, meaning that most jobs are now in the service sector. Industries such as tourism, leisure, and entertainments are growing. This is where the jobs are, and this course will set you up nicely for a whole range of jobs in this sector.

Post 16 Education

The course is worth 2 GCSE grades, so will help you to get into the sixth form. If that is not what you want, there are a variety of college courses such as BTEC, which follow on from this course. Sports hospitality, customer service, hotel management are but a few options. If you eventually want to go to university, there are many routes open to you following this type of course. All in all, it keeps your options open, whatever you may decide to do.
