"Geography is so exciting because it is our past, present and future"

Geography was the only subject I enjoyed at school apart from sport because the teacher at school made it interesting.

After school I went to work in retail management and industrial management. Six years after I left school I decided " I will go to uni, get a degree and become a geography teacher". So I went to Hull University (naturally) and found that physical geography combined with evolution and prehistory was particularily interesting.

After qualifying I worked as a teacher in Yorkshire at a school which in those days closely resembled Prisoner Cell Block H and Grange Hill. I arrived at St Peter's in 1988 as head of Geography and haven't looked back since. I am now Director of 16-19 education and Assistant head Teacher.
