My Settlement Homework
- The Geography of ….. the settlement I live in….e.g.,
Cheltenham, Stroud, Churchdown…
- You need to write a small geographical report about the settlement
you live in.
- Try to include as much of the following as possible:
- Describe where it is and include a small map
- Name some of its original site factors,e.g., near a fresh water
supply or a quarry for local building stone or if it’s a newer
settlement, good roads for transport
- The shape of the settlement – nucleated, linear or dispersed
- The settlement’s main functions e.g., a market town,
hospital, sporting etc
- The local services or facilities,e.g., doctors, shops
- Finally try to find out how this settlement has changed in
recent years. You will have to speak to someone to help with
t his (try to speak to someone who has lived here for a long
time!
- Present this report as imaginatively as possible on PAPER. You
can do it by hand or use a computer
