Online resources do not just cover the obvious use of web sites but extends to those tools, often online databases, that are subscribed to by a library or that have been peer reviewed and approved making them a more reliable resource for research, here are a number that you might find useful.

Gloucestershire County Council Public Library Virtual Reference Library.

This is in two parts firstly the resources you can access through your local public library and secondly the resources you can access from any computer using your library membership number to log in. So your first step is to Join the Library if you are not yet a member.

Don't worry about any overdue's, lost books you may have been liable for when you were 10 - the service wipes under 16's membership clean after 12 months so you have no reason not to join! You can even join online and get a membership card posted to you Join Gloucestershire Libraries.

The resources available from anywhere include:

Book a session on a computer at your local or most convenient library online and get access to Ancestry, World Book encyclopedia (more reliable than Wikipedia) and WHICH. Book a computer for up to 2 hours free of charge in any library in the county.

It also links through to the Cyber Library which contains links arranged according to topic/subject areas picked and checked and valued by librarians across the South West.
