Sixth Form Library updated March 2009


Show respect and consideration for students using the library.

Do not deface damage or 'unofficially' borrow books, journals, newspapers or other resources. If the librarian is not available sign out any resources borrowed on the sheet at the desk.

The library is a place for silent study.

The cubicle area is for silent private study only – NO talking is permitted in this area.
Low level group work/individual study discussion is permitted in areas where there are groups of tables – noise should be kept to a minimum and lowered when asked.

The library is a no eating environment under all circumstances.

No open containers of food to be in the library – keep food in your bag or your locker.
Anyone found eating in the library will be asked to leave and banned for a week.
Only non-spill drinking containers – sport type bottles – may be used in the library areas – only water to be drunk and not near the computers.
Computers:
No Games are permitted on the computer.
If you are group working on the computers there should be no more than 3 people at a time and noise should be kept to a minimum.
Mobile phones:
When in the library all mobile phones to be set to silent.
No spoken conversations to be carried out within the library environment.
Please leave the library to conduct any phone related conversation.
Do not play games on mobiles in the library the library is for study not game playing.
Do not place your bags and coats on the desks.

Do not sit on the desks or swing on the chairs

Don’t run about or mess about in the library – No play fighting, or annoying others.

Breaking any of the rules is punishable by a ban - any ban from using the library includes the computers in S7, the main school library and the common room.
