Schemes of Work

At St Peter's all KS3 maths teaching follows the National Numeracy Strategy.

The schemes of work are therefore designed to be used with the strategy document, which both clarifies the different objectives, and exemplifies the level of difficulty appropriate for each group of students.

Each year's work includes both revision and new topics, and is subdivided into different levels of ability. However teachers use their discretion to decide whether more revision or extension work is needed for the students in their care.

The nature of the National Numeracy Strategy also means that not all topics are covered in the same depth - teachers at St Peter's work together, and use their professional judgement, to decide how long to spend on each topic, and in some cases may decide to postpone a topic to a later date.

The schemes of work which are linked above should give you some idea of the topics to be covered in Maths lessons this year. All schemes of work are currently under revision, and will be posted on the site in the near future.

KS4 Students take the Edexcel GCSE course, and so we largely follow the Edexcel schemes of work. However teachers will make decisions on how much time to spend on each module and whether to do the modules in a different order from the schemes of work.
