This two hour exam is divided into two:

Section A will require the students to analyse five technical aspects of an unseen action/adventure film provided by the exam board. Included in the analysis is the discussion of how typical the extract is of the genre. Knowledge of the following must be demonstrated accurately: camera angle, shot, movement and position, editing, sound, special effects/graphics and mise-en-scene.

Section B will require students to answer a question on the representational issues surrounding celebrity and the tabloid press. Two tabloid newspapers must be analysed in a 'compare and contrast' style, to demonstrate a knowledge of the editorial treatment using media terminology, an assessment of the journalist's code of practice, news values and the public's 'right to know'. Balanced against the evidence should be a discussion of the social significance of the celebrities within our society and our appetite for them.
