The Media journal is your way, as a student, of keeping up with what is happening in the Media world, and there will be a fortnightly lesson where you will be expected to share with your group and discuss the articles, extracts, and notes that you have in your Media journal. By keeping an eye on the Internet, Newspapers, and magazines, and collecting articles and stories so that your Media Journal becomes a 'scrapbook', you will be able to have a wider view of the world of Media and this will not only help your Independent Learning, but also your essays will become more rounded as you will be able to make reference to wider issues.
The Media Journal is not optional ;you will each be given a journal at the start of term, and you will be expected to collect at least two articles or extracts per week and be ready to discuss them in class. Also, journals will be taken in by Media staff and marked alongside homeworks. Keep a close eye on Mrs March's Media wall for ideas. What you put in your Journal is up to you, as long as the articles are linked to incidents and issues in the Media world they will be relevant in class. You will also hopefully be able to use your journal to discuss the four key areas : Forms and Conventions, Audience, Institution, and Representation, and how they all work together.
