Mrs J. Beamish, Assitant Head of Department
is responsible for organising and accompanying the many successful trips run
by the department to Paris, Italy and Spain later this year (2004). Recent
bad press has jeopardised the traditional exchange visits and the school now
favours the residential trips outlined below. However the future of these
trips depends entirely on the behaviour and responsibility shown by the participating
students, which has always been excellent. Parents are therefore asked to
remind their children that they are not only representing themselves when
they go abroad but also St. Peter's and any misbehaviour will be severely
dealt with by the school.
PARIS
The Paris trip runs every March and is open to all Y8
students. The primary aim of the visit is to experience the French culture
and to practice language learned during lessons.
The approximate cost of the trip is £195 and includes three nights half-board
accommodation at the Youth Hotel Jean Monet in central Paris. Tours of the
famous sights and a visit to Disneyland are also included.
The Paris trip run by Mrs Beamish is now in its fifth year and is always extremely
popular among the younger students.
ITALY
Scheduled before Easter, the department also run a visit to Italy.
The itinerary includes visits to Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii and the island of
Capri. Students have the opportunity of visiting the Colosseum, the Spanish
steps and St. Peter's Basilica as well as climbing Mount Vesuvius!
SPAIN
Mrs Beamish is currently planning a trip to Madrid and Barcelona which will
take place in October of the next academic year (2004/5).
Should you require any further information about the visit to Spain or any
other trips detailed above, please contact Mrs Beamish at the school.
