Lourdes

Since 1996 two members of the RE team have organised and lead groups of sixth form students on pilgrimage with the HCPT Pilgrimage Trust. The original idea was to provide a group of helpers who would be trained to work effectively with the regional groups. Money would be raised to sponsor several children with disabilities to go on the pilgrimage and have the holiday of a lifetime. The first group made the pilgrimage in the school minibus but now as the number of volunteers increased a coach (Shared by a group from St Joseph’s Swindon) became the alternative. On average between twenty and thirty sixth form volunteers are carefully selected following a formal application.

This team then undertakes to actively get involved across the school not only to raise money for HCPT but also to support the many other charities we are committed to. The commitment is very demanding and for many has been a life-changing experience. The training and preparation is thorough and the organisation of the trip is exemplary. Over the years St Peter’s students have been acclaimed nationally by HCPT for their generosity & dedication
