AS Physics - Introduction

AS Modules:

Higher, Faster, Stronger  |  Technology in Space  |  The Sound of Music

Digging up the Past  |  Good Enough to Eat  |  Spare Part Surgery

The AS Physics course consists of 6 modules, which are not all the same teaching length. Each module introduces areas in which physics is used and the key concepts are learnt using a wide variety of activities. The course is structured so that key concepts are revisited and extended on several occasions and in a variety of contexts.

AS assessment is in 3 parts each contributing one third of the grade. (AS marks make up half of the total Advanced GCE marks.)

Unit 1 Examination - 1h 30 min (based on first 3 modules)

Unit 2 Examination - 1h 30 min (based on second 3 modules)

Coursework consisting of reports on 2 laboratory-based practical activities and a write-up of a visit which explains 'real-life'examples of physics in use.

Our experience over the past 5 years indicates that all coursework must be of a high standard.

Throughout the course skills development will be emphasised.
