Alongside tuition fees you are likely to encounter other education-related
expenses. Before you apply for your course, ask yourself the following
questions:
Longer degrees like Medicine, Veterinary Science and Architecture can
add significantly to the cost.
Your course may require you to purchase specialist equipment to participate
fully or to take part in additional activities that will improve your
chances of success.
Don’t forget that in addition to the equipment itself, you may have
to invest in additional insurance to protect your possessions.
How well stocked is your university’s library? Will it be impossible
to get hold of the books that you need most? If so, how much will they
cost? Can you buy them second-hand?
Some courses involve compulsory fieldwork, including trips abroad for
extended periods.
