Other Educational Expenses:
Alongside tuition fees you are likely to encounter other education-related expenses. Before you apply for your course, ask yourself the following questions:

Is the course longer than the ‘standard’ three-year course?
Longer degrees like Medicine, Veterinary Science and Architecture can add significantly to the cost.

Will you need to spend significant amounts of money on special equipment or materials?
Your course may require you to purchase specialist equipment to participate fully or to take part in additional activities that will improve your chances of success.
Don’t forget that in addition to the equipment itself, you may have to invest in additional insurance to protect your possessions.

How much will you have to spend on books?
How well stocked is your university’s library? Will it be impossible to get hold of the books that you need most? If so, how much will they cost? Can you buy them second-hand?

Will you have to do fieldwork or go on trips abroad?
Some courses involve compulsory fieldwork, including trips abroad for extended periods.
