www.nusonline.co.uk - Founded in 1922, today NUS represents five million students across the UK, providing them with a united voice, excellent benefits and helpful research and information. The website is packed with information. It tells you more about what NUS is and does and how it all works.

www.endsleigh.co.uk - Endsleigh is an independent intermediary specialising in the provision of insurance and financial products for career people.

www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/taxcredits - The taxman’s new tax credits website tells you whether you qualify for tax credits, tells you how much you could get and allows you to claim online.

www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupport - Website contains information about the help that is available to students in England and Wales who want to go into Higher Education.

www.egas-online.org - The Educational Grants Advisory Service (EGAS) offers guidance and advice on funding for those studying in post-16 education in the UK.

www.dwp.gov.uk - The Department for Work and Pensions is responsible for delivering support and advice through a modern network of services to people of working age, employers, pensioners, families and children and disabled people. Its key aims are to help people become financially independent and help reduce child poverty.

Teaching Careers
www.canteach.gov.uk - The Teacher Training Agency is an executive Non-Departmental Public Body established by the Education Act 1994. Its purpose is to raise standards in schools by attracting able and committed people to teaching. Sections of the Teacher Training Agency website provide information and support for trainee teaches and Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) during their induction year.


Studying Abroad
www.erasmus.ac.uk - Erasmus (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of Students) is the European Commission’s educational programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions. In 1995 Erasmus became incorporated into the new Socrates programme which covers education from school to university to Life Long Learning. Socrates-Erasmus can involve student mobility, teacher mobility and curriculum development and is based on co-operation agreements between Higher Education Institutions in different participating states.

Special Groups
www.skill.org.uk - Skill: National Bureau for Students with Disabilities is an independent charity that promotes opportunities for people with any kind of disability in learning and employment. Skill provides a free information and advice service for individual disabled people and the professionals who work with them, via a freephone helpline, email and website. This information and advice helps disabled people to overcome financial and physical barriers, ignorance and discrimination so that they can study, train or find work.

www.msu.org.uk - The Mature Students Union (MSU) is an apolitical, self-funding campaign and support organisation dedicated to the equal inclusion of all students classified as ‘mature’.

Staying Solvent
www.cccs.co.uk - Consumer Credit Counselling service (CCCS) is a registered charity whose purpose is to assist families and individuals who are in financial difficulty by providing independent and confidential counselling on personal budgeting, advice on the wise use of credit and, where appropriate, achievable plans to repay outstanding debts.

www.nationaldebtline.co.uk - National Debtline is a national telephone helpline for people with debt problems in England, Wales and Scotland. The service is free, confidential and independent.
